Abstract
Cancer is a major health problem in the world, both in developed and developing countries. Cancer is a causeof high mortality and economic problems. Various attempts have been made to deal with cancer, but themorbidity and mortality rate is still high. The use of synthetic drugs and chemotherapy is often not selective.Anti-cancer ingredients not only attack cancer cells but also normal cells, causing serious side effects(Sausville and Longo, 2005). This has led to finding more selective and sensitive anti-cancer drugs. Onestrategy undertaken to overcome this situation is the exploration of plants that have the potential to be anti-cancer. Wood beta-beta (Lunasia amara) has the potential to be anti-cancer because it contains activecompounds and a high antioxidant effect. Active oxygen and free radicals are associated with severalphysiological and pathological cases such as cancer, inflammation, immunity, aging, mutagenic andcarcinogenic. The extraction method used is the maceration and drying extract method with a rotaryeveporator. In the research, a cytotoxicity study of beta-beta wood extract using T47D breast cancer cells willbe carried out to develop the use of this plant as a candidate fora new drug for cancer. Ethanol extract as atest sample is directed for continuous testing of beta-beta wood plants
