Abstract

Congestion is a phenomenon in big cities that is triggered by the increasing number of residents themselves and the increasing demands of people's lives which result in an increase in the volume and frequency of population activities. The traffic jam in Makassar is not as bad as what happened in Jakarta, however, it is quite severe for a city like Makassar. Conditions like this often result in traffic jams on various roads in Makassar City, including at the intersection of Jl. South Veterans – Jl. Old/New Landak and the intersection of jl. Kakatua - Jl. Dr. Ratulangi. This study aims to determine the factors of congestion and congestion solutions at the intersection. The research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to the Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Works of Makassar. Data from the questionnaire was processed using RII to determine the factors that were very influential. From the results of the study, it was found that of the nine congestion factors, there were four factors that greatly influenced congestion and of the seven factors of congestion solutions, there were four factors that were very influential for the congestion solution.
