Abstract
Currently, a new concept in the transportation system has developed, namely a sustainable transportation system. This concept has been widely applied in many countries, both in developed and developing countries, and is quite successful in dealing with transportation problems. Although until now there is no standard definition of sustainable transportation, there are several definitions that can be used as a reference for this sustainable transportation system. This study aims to [1] analyze the performance of the public transportation system type of City In-Province Transport (AKDP) based on passenger perceptions and [2] to formulate a scenario for the development of a public transportation system that is in accordance with the situation and condition of the city, the wishes of the community and the most likely to be implemented. in Balikpapan City. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. Descriptive quantitative is a type of research used to analyze data by describing or describing the data that has been collected as it is. The results show that for the City of Balikpapan, the public transportation development scenario based on AHP analysis and the Community Preference Survey (multinomial logit regression model), which allows the development of a public transportation system with a new mode in the Commuterline Electric Rail Train (KRL) scheme. The main factor that becomes a priority consideration is the average amount of household transportation costs. Efforts to revitalize public transportation in the city of Balikpapan will be successful if it is supported by all parties, especially the people of the city of Balikpapan in particular. One of these successes is determined by the suitability of the public's desire for the public transportation system plan that will be developed by the government. Based on the results of the research, options for optimizing the old public transportation system have not received public attention. In general, people have thought of using a new system that is more interesting, one of which is the offer of scenarios for the use of the Commuterline Electric Rail Train (KRL).
