Abstract

Another bad impact caused by overloaded vehicles is a reduced level of driving safety, congestion, and faster breakdown of vehicle parts. This study aims to [1] analyze the effect of overloading on the design life of the road. [2] Analyzing the axle equivalence number of vehicles passing through Jalan Jend. Ahmad Yani (Km. 2 – Km. 6 + 000) in Parepare City, and [3] Analyzing the decline in the design life of the Jend. Ahmad Yani (Km. 2 – Km. 6 + 000) in Parepare City. This type of research is quantitative and qualitative descriptive, which aims to describe the condition of road damage and traffic movement. The research method used is a survey method with an evaluative approach, which assesses road damage based on literature or theory. The results showed that [1] the effect of overloading on the design life of the road was due to the presence of overloaded vehicles passing through Jalan Jend. Ahmad Yani KM.2 – km.6+00 which is dominated by heavy vehicle types, namely Medium Trucks and 2as Trucks (8 tons). [2] The axle equivalence number of vehicles passing through Jalan Jend. Ahmad Yani (Km. 2 – Km. 6 + 000) in Parepare City, namely; The cumulative VDF of normal loads during the design life of 10 years is = 11,993,547.75 ESAL. The cumulative VDF of overload over the design life of 10 years is = 3,897,304,978 ESAL. And [3] The impact of excess load resulted in a decrease in the design life, based on the 1993 AASHTHO method a decrease in the design life of 17.73%, or a decrease in the design life of 1.773 years, so that the percentage of cumulative PDF due to overload is 67.50 %. Keywords: ESAL, Overloading, Road Design Life.
