Abstract
ABSTRACT
ANDI SYAMSINAR. Clinical Profile of Use of Type II Anti-Diabetes Mellitus
Drugs at Abunawas Kendari Hospital, Southeast Sulawesi (Supervised by
Andi Maulana and Hendra Herman).
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a condition in which blood sugar levels are
higher than normal. This study aims to see the clinical profile of antidiabetic
drug use in type 2 DM patients based on laboratory examinations regarding
the type of drug, dose of drug, and duration of antidiabetic drug
administration at Abunawas Hospital, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. This
study design uses a descriptive research type with a retrospective data
collection method based on medical records with a sample size of 36 type
2 Diabetes Mellitus patients and using the Multivariate method. The results
of the study showed that the patients who mostly suffered from type 2
Diabetes Mellitus were women with an age range of 60 years. The most
effective and most widely used oral antidiabetic use is single therapy of the
biguanide group Metformin 500 mg and the results of statistical analysis
using the Multivariat method where the results obtained were at the p-value
of Metformin, which was 1.0 where > 0.05 which means that there is no
significant difference between metformin and other types of single therapy
drugs or combination therapy. Meanwhile, the p-value of Glimepiride is
0.048, Sitagliptin is 0.011, and combination therapy (Metformin +
Glimepiride) is 0.029 where <0.05. The conclusion of this study is that the
most effective use of antidiabetic is Metformin and there is a significant
relationship between the use of oral antidiabetic with blood sugar and
HbA1c examinations.
