Abstract

ERWING. Perbandingan Potensi Antibakteri Ekstrak Air dan Etanol Umbi Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr.) Terhadap Bakteri Penyebab Infeksi Kulit Dengan Metode Difusi Agar (Dibimbing oleh Rusli dan Ayyub Harly Nurung). Umbi bawang dayak merupakan tumbuhan yang secara empiris digunakan sebagai obat infeksi kulit seperti jerawat dan bisul oleh masyarakat suku dayak di Kalimantan. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbandingan potensi antibakteri ekstrak air dan etanol umbi bawang dayak terhadap bakteri penyebab infeksi kulit dengan metode difusi agar. Ekstrak air dan etanol umbi bawang dayak diuji aktivitas antibakteri secara difusi agar dengan seri konsentrasi 1,6%, 3,2%, dan 4,8% pada bakteri P. acnes, P. aureginosa, S. aureus, dan S. epidermidis. Hasil uji statistik perbandingan esktrak air dan etanol umbi bawang dayak terhadap bakteri P. aureginosa, S. aureus, dan S. epidermidis pada konsentrasi 1,6% tidak berbeda signifikan (p>0,05) sedangkan pada bakteri P. acnes berbeda signifikan (p<0,05). Pada konsentrasi 3,2% dan 4,8% disemua bakteri uji berbeda signifikan (p<0,05). Dari hasil diatas dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak air memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang lebih baik terhadap bakteri P. acne dan S. aureus dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etanol. Sedangkan ekstrak etanol memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang lebih baik terhadap bakteri P. aureginosa dan S. epidermidis dibandingkan dengan ekstrak air. Kata kunci: umbi bawang dayak, antibakteri, difusi agar ABSTRACT ERWING. Comparison of Antibacterial Potential of Water and Ethanol Extract of Dayak Onion Bulbs (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr.) Against Bacteria Causing Skin Infection by Agar Diffusion Method (Supervised by Rusli and Ayyub Harly Nurung). Dayak onion bulbs are a plant that is empirically used as a medicine for skin infections such as acne and boils by the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan. The aim of this research is to determine the comparison of the antibacterial potential of water and ethanol extracts of Dayak onion bulbs against bacteria that cause skin infections using the agar diffusion method. Water and ethanol extracts of Dayak onion bulbs were tested for antibacterial activity by agar diffusion with a concentration series of 1.6%, 3.2%, and 4.8% on P. acnes, P. aureginosa, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis bacteria. The results of statistical tests comparing water and ethanol extracts of Dayak onion bulbs against the bacteria P. aureginosa, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis at a concentration of 1.6% were not significantly different (p>0.05) while the bacteria P. acnes were significantly different ( p<0.05). At concentrations of 3.2% and 4.8% all the tested bacteria were significantly different (p<0.05). From the results above, it can be concluded that the water extract has better antibacterial activity against P. acne and S. aureus bacteria compared to the ethanol extract. Meanwhile, the ethanol extract has better antibacterial activity against P. aureginosa and S. epidermidis bacteria compared to the water extract.
